Instead of Long Press to popup verse action menu....
Instead of Long-Pressing a Verse to Open the Verse Action Menu, Why don't we have a click(tap) on the Verse Number (liek we do when clicking hyperlinks in browsers) so that the Verse-Action Menu appears. This way, I know which verse I am dealing with.
So far I have to assume I have put my finger in the centre of the verse text in order to long press a verse. it becomes tricky when you have a very short verse that's very short and contains fewer than 10 words.

I think the new verse number button doesnt look as nice as the old layout but i think it is more functional. So good call on the latest change.

The initial suggestion has a mistake: you don't long-press in the middle of the verse you want, you can long-press anywhere on the screen because the verse at the top of the page is the current verse you will perform actions on. However, it would be better if it did act as the requester mistakenly assumed.
I had a plan to reorganise the menu system by using submenus (http://code.google.com/p/and-bible/wiki/MenuOrganisation) which would remove long-press totally but I haven't implemented it yet.

Long Press to popup is annoying because
1. you can't point your finger to a word (it will hide behind the
2. you can't meditate on a verse without holding the phone unnaturaly (your fingers tend to rest on the screen, triggering the pop-up and creating a distraction).
